Search ends as woman returns

February 10, 2003|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

State police called off the search for a Westminster woman who left home with her 3-year- old son more than two weeks ago after she returned home with the boy yesterday, in apparent good health and of her own volition, authorities said.

On Thursday, Rhonda Kay Stevenson, 39, phoned her family and told them she would be returning home with her son, Thomas Jackson Stevenson.

She was traveling to visit relatives in Pennsylvania with her son Jan. 25, police said, and was reported missing by her husband four days later when she failed to arrive there. Mother and son had been classified as "critically missing" because Stevenson has medical problems, was without her medicine and had a child with her, police said.
