Council to hear appeal from trailer sales business

The Harford County Council is scheduled to hear a zoning appeals case Tuesday involving a controversy that began more than a year ago over a trailer sales business in Joppa.

Jesse and Michele Hadaway of the 1600 block of Crestview Road are seeking a special exception to run their business, which the county says has been operating illegally on the 3.9-acre property.

The Hadaways have sought to have subpoenas requesting information about the business quashed and the hearing examiner replaced, court records show. William Casey, the zoning hearing examiner, denied those requests, so the Hadaways are appealing the matter to the County Council.

A public hearing at 7:45 p.m., before the legislative session begins, will hear comment on a bill to transfer $173,000 within the General Fund from the waste-to-steam sales account to the solid waste management account for the purchase of new equipment.

A resolution to adopt a bill approving a growth allocation of 4.25 acres to Bush River Boat Club for renovations to the property is scheduled to be introduced.

The council will also consider appointments to the People's Counsel Citizens Advisory Board and the Cultural Arts Board.

County Council President Robert S. Wagner and County Executive James M. Harkins are scheduled to speak on county and legislative matters during the session, which starts at 8 p.m. in the council chambers, 212 S. Bond St.
