Virginia B. Schaible, 86, homemaker, volunteer

Virginia B. Schaible, a homemaker and community volunteer, died Tuesday of lung disease at the Wesley Home in Mount Washington. The former Howard Park resident was 86.

Born Virginia Buettner in Baltimore and raised atop her father's Riverside Avenue grocery store, she was a 1934 graduate of Forest Park High School.

She was a former member and taught Sunday school at Howard Park Methodist Church. She also was a former board member and a volunteer at the Wesley Home.

Her husband of nearly 40 years, Gorman Schaible, a civil engineer, died in 1997.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Loring Byers Funeral Home, 8728 Liberty Road.

Survivors include five sons, Richard Ford and Richard Schaible, both of San Francisco, John Ford of Yonkers, N.Y., Paul D. Ford of Sparks and Carl Schaible of Severna Park; and three grandchildren.
