Emily Bell Padgett, 96, homemaker, legal secretary

Emily Bell Padgett, a homemaker and former legal secretary, died of pneumonia Tuesday at the Presbyterian Home of Maryland in Towson. The longtime Hamilton resident was 96.

Before her retirement nearly 40 years ago, she was a secretary for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, and for lawyers in downtown Baltimore.

Born in Baltimore, she was raised in Hamilton and attended public schools.

Mrs. Padgett was a 52-year member of Hamilton Presbyterian Church, where she welcomed new members and taught Sunday school.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Presbyterian Home, 400 Georgia Court.

Her husband of more than 60 years, George Washington Padgett, died in 1985.
