Winfield fire hall to hold Valentine Dance tomorrow

Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will hold a Valentine Dance from 8 p.m. to midnight tomorrow at the fire hall.

A disc jockey will play a variety of music all night. Hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, beer and setups will be provided. Raffles and door prizes also will be held.

Tickets are $15 per person.

Linganore wine tastings to feature tours, candy

Berrywine Plantations, Linganore Winecellars, will hold its annual Cask to Kisses wine tasting for Valentine's Day tomorrow and Sunday and Feb. 14-16.

Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. Admission and parking are free.

Visitors can sample red wines with Nestle's Boci chocolates to appropriate background music. At noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. each day, guided tours of the winery will be held and other wines offered for sampling.

Children's activities also are available. Families are welcome.

Messiah Lutheran to hold flea market tomorrow

Messiah Lutheran Church will hold a winter flea market and craft show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow in the church hall.

Spaces are available for anyone wishing to sell items. Spaces are $20 if the vendor provides his/her own table and chair, or $25 if the church provides those items. Tables are approximately 8 feet by 4 feet.

Food also will be sold during the event.

Mount Airy library offers story time, quilting

The Mount Airy branch library, 705 Ridge Ave., will offer:

Year Round Story Time for all ages (3 and younger must be with an adult) at 11 a.m. today on "Rhyme Time," 11 a.m. tomorrow; and at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Tuesday on "Winter Fun."

"Basic Quilt Piecing - Nine Patch Pillow Top" for adults at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow. Adults can learn basic quilt piecing techniques on the nine-patch pattern. Participants can hand-sew or bring their own machine to sew a quilt block for a pillow. A materials list will be given at registration.

Legion bingo: American Legion Gold Star Post 191 of Mount Airy will hold daytime bingo every Wednesday and evening games every Thursday at its hall at 801 Prospect Road. On Wednesday, doors open at 11:30 a.m. for lunch at noon, followed by games from 12:45 p.m. to 3 p.m.; cost is $13 for 21 regular games and $2 for early bird games.
