Police seek identity of driver in car crash

February 06, 2003|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Howard County police are asking the public to help them identify an unconscious man who crashed a car reported stolen in Laurel on Sunday.

The man is 6 feet tall, weighs about 210 pounds and is believed to be between 20 and 24 years old, police said. He has the word "shake" branded on his left shoulder, photos show.

Police said the victim was driving a 1989 Toyota Camry on Sunday that had been reported stolen from Laurel, in Prince George's County, the day before.

The man apparently lost control as he drove east on Old Scaggsville Road and struck a telephone pole near High Ridge Road in North Laurel.

Police said yesterday that they found no evidence of foul play or drug or alcohol use. They did not find any identification of the man.

He was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was in critical condition late yesterday.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-313- 4751.
