Winery event to look for shadowy animal

Berrywine Plantations, Linganore Winecellars, will present "Only the Shadow Knows," an event to find the vineyard's groundhog from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Visitors can watch from a hidden telescope for Linganore Len, then taste the vineyards' wines and debate whether Len saw his shadow.

Tours of the winery and other tasting of wines with light fare will be offered. Visitors can take a picnic lunch and take a sled ride on the grounds.

Admission is free.

Mount Airy library schedules quilting class

The Mount Airy library branch, 705 Ridge Ave., will offer:

"Year-round Story Time" for all ages (age 3 and younger must be with an adult) at 11 a.m. today on "Feathered Friends," 11 a.m. tomorrow, and 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Tuesday on "Rhyme Time."

"Basic Computers for Beginners" for teens and adults at 11 a.m. tomorrow.

"Basic Quilt Piecing - Nine Patch Pillow Top" for adults at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 8. Adults can learn basic quilt-piecing techniques on the nine-patch pattern. Participants can hand sew or take their machine to sew a quilt block for a pillow. A materials list will be given at registration.
