On January 25, 2003, EDWARD HAYS BROOKS, Westinghouse Nuclear Physicist and Engineer and resident of Las Vegas, NV, died at the age of 74. Hays was the son of Eva Orr Brooks and Elvin Russell Brooks from Lyon County, KY. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Jean Brooks of Las Vegas, two sons, Dwyte Edward and Gerald Hays Brooks of Las Vegas, two daughters, Roberta Suzanne Brooks and Heather Joy Eikenberry, four grandchildren, two future great-grandchildren, and Sid Vicious, their miniature dachshund great-grandpuppy. Hays was born in Star Lime Works, KY. He had a diverse career which included Professor of Physics at Murray State University; Nuclear Physicist for GE; Engineer for Westinghouse Astronuclear Laboratories; Engineer for Westinghouse Oceanic Division, Annapolis, MD; and a Consulting Scientist for Northrop Grumman Corp in Annapolis, MD. Hays had many personal hobbies and interests including preservation of the Paradise Cemetery, genealogy research, international traveling, bluegrass music, professional wrestling, and storytelling. There will be a service at The Palm Funeral Home of Las Vegas, NV (702-464-8420), on January 31. The family is requesting that instead of flowers, tax-deductible donations be made to the Paradise Cemetery Trust Fund, c/o Mary Forsythe, 277 Hill Road, Grand Rivers, KY 42045. Suddenly, on January 27, 2003, LINDA C. (nee Maynor); beloved wife of the late Richard C. Brooks; devoted daughter of Roy and Lula Maynor; loving mother of Summer L. Brooks and loving stepmother of Richard C. Jr. and Shawn J. Brooks; dear sister of Roy E. Maynor, Sheila G. Valcarcel, Ken W. Maynor and the late A. Faye Blalock. Also survived by a step-grandson Christopher M. Brooks and the late Jeffrey T. Brooks. The family will receive friends in the LEMMON FUNERAL HOME OF DULANEY VALLEY, INC., 10 W. Padonia Rd. (at York Road), Timonium-Cockeysville, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the Trinity Assembly of God Church, 2122 W. Brooks, Mary Ruth

On January 23, 2003; MARY RUTH BROOKS (nee Williams). Mrs. Brooks is survived by her five children, Linda Mullaney, Paul Brooks, Robert Brooks, I, John Brooks and Donna Beard; eight grandchildren Melissa Sauter, Brian and Kevin Mullaney, Bo and Casey Brooks, Brooke Patroza, Taylor Beard and Jordan Brooks; one great-grandchild Tori Sauter. Also, survived by her sister Jewell Dellinger and her brothers Henly (Buck) and Rae Williams. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Stephens Traditional Episcopal Church, 11856 Mays Chapel Road, Timonium, MD 21093 on Saturday, February 1st, at 11 AM.
