Public comment sought tomorrow on school budget plan

The public will have an opportunity to discuss the proposed fiscal year 2004 operating budget at a public hearing before the Board of Education at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Department of Education, 10910 Route 108, Ellicott City.

Members of the public are encouraged to participate.

Those who want to make a presentation can call 410- 313-7197 in advance or sign up at the hearing. Fifteen written copies of the testimony are requested.

Work sessions slated on budget blueprint

The Board of Education will hold three public work sessions on the proposed fiscal year 2004 operating budget. The sessions are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, and Feb. 11 and 18 in the boardroom at the Department of Education, 10910 Route 108, Ellicott City.

School board and council are to confer Tuesday

The Board of Education and the County Council will meet at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday at the George Howard Building in Ellicott City.

Leadership program seeks to fill eighth class

Leadership U, a student leadership program under the auspices of Leadership Howard County, is recruiting for its eighth class.

An information session is planned for 7 p.m. Feb. 5 and 12 at the central library, 10375 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia.

Job fair today seeking special-education workers

The Howard County public school system's Office of Human Resources will hold a Special Education Job Fair from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Long Reach High School, 6101 Old Dobbin Lane in Columbia.

The fair is open to anyone seeking employment as a special-education teacher, behavioral specialist, physical therapist, occupational therapist or vision teacher.

Prom-Senior Week session for parents set tonight

HC DrugFree, a grass-roots partnership of parents, schools and county agencies, will present the fourth program in its "Issues in Parenting" series, "Ocean City Program: Prom, Graduation and Senior Week," from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Oakland Mills High School.
