Police are seeking girl, 16, and her 3-month-old son

Hickory Ridge runaway calls to say she has shelter

January 28, 2003|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Howard County police were looking yesterday for a 16-year-old Hickory Ridge girl who ran away from home Saturday with her infant son.

Jessica Lynn Owens of the 11600 block of Sun Circle Way and her 3-month old boy were missing last night, but Owens has called her family and indicated she and her child have found shelter, police said.

Police believe the two are in the District of Columbia or in Capitol Heights, in Prince Georhge's County, where Owens has friends.

"We hope this will turn into a good conclusion," said police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn.

Owens, a freshman at Wilde Lake High School, has run away before and has a history of living on the street, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-313-2200.
