Bon Secours planning a series of workshops

Bon Secours Spiritual Center, 1525 Marriottsville Road, Marriottsville, will offer a series of workshops.

"Caring for Yourself: A Respite Afternoon for Caregivers" will be offered from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 1. The afternoon will offer time for relaxation with other people who understand the need for temporary respite from the responsibilities of caregiving. Time for prayer, laughter and personal reflection is planned. The cost is $15.

"Yoga and the Movements of Life" will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 1. The cost is $45, including lunch.

"The Love Commands of Jesus in an Age of Hatred" is the topic of a workshop scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 2. Jesus' command to "Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you" will be examined. The cost is $45, including lunch.

"Oasis: Time Away for Mothers of Young Children" will be offered from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 2. Presentations, sharing and quiet time are included. The cost is $20.

Seminar on St. Francis set tomorrow in Glenelg

The Companions of St. Anthony, 12290 Folly Quarter Road, near Glenelg, will offer a seminar, "St. Francis: A Master of Prayer," from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow. The cost is $35, including lunch.

Christian women's group plans seminars in Laurel

Who Am I? Ministries, a small Christian women's group, will hold two free seminars for women at 2 p.m. Feb. 1 and March 8 at House Of Faith, 3520 New Sudlersville Road, Laurel.

Topics will include "The New Me In 2003," "Get Out of My Comfort Zone" and "Love Makes Things Happen."

Evangelist E. Mcknight will speak.

Registration is required by 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Christian weight-loss program getting started

St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Parish will sponsor PRISM*, a Christian weight-loss program, beginning next month. An orientation will be held at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at Wilde Lake Interfaith Center, 10431 Twin Rivers Road, Columbia.

The orientation will include discussion of the PRISM* approach, fees and schedule. Admission to the orientation is free. The next regular group meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at the interfaith center.

The cost for the six-week session is $45. Registration, which is required, is due by Feb. 6.

Final Hadassah meeting on Bible women is Tuesday

The Howard County chapter of Hadassah International will complete its three-week study group on women in the Bible.

The group is led by Chani Baron, scholar, motivational teacher and the wife of Rabbi Hillel Baron of the Lubavitch Center for Jewish Education.

Participants can join any time. The last meeting is scheduled from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Columbia at the home of Debbie Tow. Admission is free. Registration is requested.

Spiritual outreach offered by Journeys Community

St. Andrew's Church in Glenwood conducts Journeys Community at 10 a.m. Sundays at Clemens Crossing Elementary School in Columbia.

The gathering is for those who would like to pursue a spiritual path but have not found it in traditional forms of worship.
