David Larry Hill Sr., 61, steel-mill crane operator

David Larry Hill Sr., a retired crane operator, died Saturday at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air after suffering a heart attack at his home in Jarrettsville. He was 61.

Born in Dayton, Tenn., and raised in the Aero Acres section of eastern Baltimore County, Mr. Hill was a 1959 graduate of Kenwood High School where he played football and was a member of the track team.

He retired in 1999 from Bethlehem Steel's Sparrows Point plant, where he was a crane operator in the rolling mills.

Family members said he enjoyed outdoor activities, including lawn work, camping and swimming at Ocean City and Myrtle Beach.

Services were held Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Bel Air, where Mr. Hill was a member.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, the former Jeannette Burruss; a son, David Larry Hill Jr. of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Anna Denise Bristol of Bel Air; his mother, Jenny Hill of White Marsh; a brother, William Donald Hill of Houston; a sister, Brenda Ann Satisky of White Marsh; and six grandchildren.
