Panel OKs Trappe request to annex 924 acres

The tiny town of Trappe could be growing.

The Talbot County Planning Commission has given unanimous approval to a request to annex more than 924 acres into the town limits.

The property is east of Route 50 and is part of Trappe's long-term growth plans.

Lawmakers intend to shift the town center to the east side of the highway. A public hearing on the proposed annexation will be held at the Trappe Fire Hall this month.

Long & Foster announces licensing agreement

Long & Foster announced last week its first licensing arrangement with a company in North Carolina and the first office outside the company's six-state region.

The licensing agreement is with Hall & Nixon of Elizabeth City, N.C., a company with 15 sales associates. It marks the company's second licensing agreement. Long & Foster's signed with Webber & Associates in Winchester, Va., in 1999.

Long & Foster is the nation's fourth-largest real estate company and the largest in the mid-Atlantic region.

Licensing has been growing in the real estate industry because it allows larger companies to gain a foothold in areas where it does not operate. The licensee benefits from the larger company's name.
