NFL: Fined 49ers WR Terrell Owens $10,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct, Giants S Shaun Williams $10,000 for unnecessary roughness and Giants S Omar Stoutmire $7,500 for unnecessary roughness during their game last Sunday.

PATRIOTS: Signed free-agent FB Michael Malan.


NHL: Fined Canadiens general manager Andre Savard $50,000 and coach Michel Therrien $25,000 as result of their abuse of officials at the conclusion of a game against New Jersey on Tuesday.
