Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Baltimore City

Western District

Child abuse: A 23-year-old woman was arrested Sunday and charged with child abuse in the scalding of her 5-year-old son. Officials at University of Maryland Medical Center, where the mother took the child, called police about 4:30 p.m., saying he had suffered first- and second-degree burns over much of his body. Charged was Sheila Avery of the 600 block of N. Monroe St. The boy was listed yesterday in critical but stable condition.

Northeastern District

Robbery: A 43-year-old mentally disabled man was walking in the 3300 block of Elmora Ave. about 6:30 p.m. Monday when he was knocked to the ground by three men, one with a handgun, and robbed of $13.

Southern District

Shooting: A man, 35, was walking toward his apartment in the 2600 block of W. Patapsco Ave. about 11:55 p.m. Monday when another man shot him in the upper left leg. The victim was treated at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Northern District

Robbery: A woman, 46, was walking in the first block of E. 30th St. about 6:15 p.m. Monday when she was assaulted by three men who stole her briefcase.

Baltimore County

Cockeysville Precinct

Robbery: After looking at jewelry at Sears in Hunt Valley Mall about 2:15 p.m. Monday, a man displayed a handgun in his waistband and removed nearly $19,000 worth of items from a display case. He forced a female clerk to accompany him toward an escalator before fleeing.

Woodlawn Precinct

Robbery: A woman, 36, was arrested about 7 a.m. Monday and charged with robbing another woman of $37 in the 5700 block of Southwestern Blvd. minutes earlier. The money was recovered. Charged was Sharon Baughan of the 800 block of S. Beechfield Ave.

Garrison Precinct

Armed robbery: A man was about to enter his home in the first block of Thomas Craddock Court about 11:30 a.m. Monday when two men, one with a handgun, robbed him of his wallet, keys and his 2003 Toyota Camry with tags KWC 973.
