Born May 7, 1911 in Baltimore, MD., She was a daughter of Gilbert and Rose Monaghan Smith. On September 21, 1940, she married Dr. William T. Smothers who died November 30, 1980. She attended the College of Notre Dame, Baltimore, MD. She was a secretary for 40 years in veterinary medical practice with her husband. She was a member of the State College Senior Citizens Center, State College Womans Club, Friends of the Palmer Museum and the Centre County Historical Society. She also did volunteer work in the Community. She is survived by a stepdaughter Eulene S. Toothman and step son-in-law James S. Toothman,both of State College, two step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren. A private Visitation and Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place at Lorraine Park Cemetery, Baltimore, MD at a later date.
