Elsie Matilda Will, 79, school cafeteria worker

Elsie Matilda Will, a school cafeteria worker, died yesterday of heart failure at Carroll County General Hospital in Westminster. The Winfield resident was 79.

Born in Baltimore, the former Elsie Matilda Close was raised in Carroll County and attended Westminster High School.

She worked in the cafeteria at the Eldersburg Elementary School for years before her retirement about 20 years ago.

She was a charter member of Winfield Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and belonged to the Messiah Lutheran Church in Berrett.

Her husband of 42 years, Charles A. Will Sr., a carpenter, died in 1985.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road in Winfield.

Survivors include a son, Charles A. Will Jr. of Winfield; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. One daughter, Nancy Louise Stockdale, died in 2000, and another daughter, Peggy Logue, died in 1999.
