On December 2, 2002, CHARLES LEROY THOMPSON, JR. (Chuck, Charlie, Sonny) went on to be with his Father God after a lengthy illness at Franklin Square Hospital. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Charles L., Sr. and Genevieve A. (Scherer) Thompson; beloved husband of the late Mary F. (Connelly) Thompson, devoted father of Lawrence D. and his wife Susan Thompson, Deborah Shanklin-Janssen and her husband Paul, David A. and his wife Cathie Thompson, Jacqueline M. Thompson-Sparks and her husband Rostoum; cherished grandfather of Kyle, Wesley, Derek, Dawn, Kaitlyn, Amy, Melissa, Christopher, Timothy, Mary Beth, Brooke, David Jr., Amanda, Zachary and Brittany. He was preceded in death by grandson Daniel Ireton, caring great grandfather of three. Loving Uncle of Karl and Olga Monteiro and family. He is also survived by a host of friends and family members. Charlie served in the US Navy and went on to become a letter carrier in the Loch Raven Post Office and then the Parkville Post Office. He also worked at the A&P as a grocery checker. He has been retired for many years. He was a talented artist, he had a beautiful, melodic, deep voice. He loved all kinds of music. He loved people and had a real soft spot in his heart for animals. He was loved by so many and will be sorely missed. Friends may call at the family owned Evans Chapel of Memories-Parkville 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday. A funeral liturgy will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Ursulas Catholic Church, Harford Rd., Parkville. Interment Parkwood Cemetery.
