HRD's Forester wins a Lifetime Achievement Award

The Home Builders Association of Maryland announced the winners of its Land Development Council Award of Excellence at a ceremony in Baltimore on Oct. 16. The award recognizes excellence in design and quality, and honors outstanding contributions to the land development industry.

Howard County winners included David E. Forester, senior vice president and senior development director of Howard Research and Development Corp., an affiliate of the Rouse Co. Forester, who retired Sept. 16, received a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Orchard Development Corp. of Ellicott City received an award for Hickory Crest, an 88-townhouse development in Columbia.

Pulte Home Corp. received an award for the Paddocks in western Howard County, and Ryland Homes received honorable mention for the Preserve at Mt. Hebron, in Ellicott City.

Lawyers conference slated Nov. 9 at Columbia hotel

The Solo and Small Firm Practice Section of the Maryland State Bar Association will hold its 4th Annual Solo and Small Firm Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Columbia Hilton.

The conference is designed to help lawyers in solo and small firms successfully manage their practices.

The cost is $90, including meals.
