Baseball

ATHLETICS: Promoted bench coach Ken Macha to manager. Declined to exercise $1.1 million option on former Orioles C Greg Myers, who received $100,000 buyout.

BLUE JAYS: Signed free-agent P Doug Creek, who had been with Mariners, to $700,000, one-year contract.

BREWERS: Named Ned Yost manager; agreed to terms with him on two-year contract.

DEVIL RAYS: Fired pitching coach Jackie Brown and hitting coach Milt May. Will not offer new contracts to bullpen coach Glenn Ezell and first base coach Lee May.

EXPOS: Exercised $6 million option on P Bartolo Colon. Announced that OF Wil Cordero and 1B Andres Galarraga declared for free agency. Activated IF Jose Macias from 60-day DL.

INDIANS: Named Eric Wedge manager; signed him to three-year deal with club options for 2005 and 2006. Named Joel Skinner third base coach.

MARINERS: Declined to exercise $4 million option on P James Baldwin, who received $500,000 buyout.

ORIOLES: Signed P Pat Hentgen for 2003 with option for 2004.

PHILLIES: Declined to exercise $5.4 million option on P Terry Adams.

RAPTORS: Announced that F Lamond Murray is expected to miss 16 weeks - twice as long as previously expected - after surgery to repair torn ligament in right foot.
