October 25, 2002

Services for Matthew MacRae Rudacille, a sophomore at Atholton High School, will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Witzke Funeral Home, 5555 Twin Knolls Road in Columbia.

Mr. Rudacille, who was 15, ended his life Monday at his home in Clarksville. He had been treated for depression, said his mother, Caroline E. Rudacille.

Mr. Rudacille was born in Key West, Fla., and spent his early years in Columbia. Since 1995, he had lived in Clarksville.

He was a member of the Junior ROTC at Atholton High.

Mr. Rudacille played the guitar and had wide-ranging musical interests. "He loved music -- classical, rock, country and jazz -- and had quite a collection of CDs. He was always downloading music and making copies for me," his mother said.

He also enjoyed fantasy literature and reading about the Civil War, and liked lifting weights, riding his skateboard and spending time with his six cats, the family said.

Mr. Rudacille also is survived by his father, Wendell "Bud" Rudacille, a retired Howard County police officer; a brother, Christopher C. Rudacille of Clarksville; his paternal grandmother, Margaret Rudacille of Ellicott City; and uncles, aunts and many cousins.
