Police identify man killed in hit-and-run

Police released the name of a bicycle rider who was struck and killed in a hit-and-run Monday in Baltimore's Cherry Hill section.

James Ricks, 48, was identified through fingerprints and then by family members.

But the driver, who struck Ricks and failed to stop at the scene, remained unknown.

Ricks was riding his bike about 2 p.m. in the 1200 block of Cherry Hill Road when he was struck from behind by a gray or silver Chevrolet Cavalier, said police Officer William Murray of the traffic investigation unit.

The victim was pronounced dead at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Police ask anyone with information to call Murray at 410- 396-2609.
