Democrats question GOP nomination in Md. Senate race

The Maryland Democratic Party is raising questions over the nomination of an Anne Arundel County Republican to run in the District 31 state Senate race.

David Paulson, communications director for the Maryland Democratic Party, has asked for documentation to prove that David K. Kyle, a Pasadena resident, was nominated to run in the Sept. 10 primary by the Anne Arundel County Republican Central Committee in a legal vote.

Terry R. Gilleland, chairman of the Anne Arundel County Republican Central Committee and a Senate candidate in District 32, said yesterday that Kyle was nominated in a proper and legal forum July 13. He called Paulson's accusations "ridiculous."

Kyle, the only registered Republican candidate in the District 31 Senate race, will face Sen. Philip C. Jimeno, a Brooklyn Park Democrat, in the Nov. 5 general election.
