Drug counts also filed after Eldersburg incident

October 11, 2002

Two men were charged with robbery and assault after an attendant at an Eldersburg gas station was beaten and several packs of cigarettes were stolen, authorities said yesterday.

Bryant Mitchell Johnson, 38, of Baltimore and Michael Jones, 34, of no fixed address were arrested about midnight Wednesday, state police in Westminster said. Both were charged in the robbery and with possession of heroin and conspiracy to commit robbery, police said.

Two men forced their way into an Amoco station in the 1500 block of Liberty Road shortly before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday and beat the clerk, who escaped and called police with a description of the vehicle, said Lt. Terry Katz, commander of the Westminster barracks.

Troopers stopped a car near the Baltimore-Carroll County line and arrested the men, police said.
