October 10, 2002|By SPECIAL TO THE SUN

Linda Storey, instructional leader for the River Hill High School English department, is one of 20 master teachers from across the United States traveling to countries in the former Soviet Union this month. She is a USA Educational Ambassador, a program of the American Councils for International Education.

A secondary school in the Ukrainian town of Kherson will be Storey's host from Sunday through Oct. 30. She plans to keep a journal of her experiences, which will include giving lectures to educators, visiting schools, sightseeing and attending a folk festival in her honor.

"I'm so much looking forward to learning from them as well as teaching them about modern teaching strategies," Storey said.
