BIG TEN: Dismissed four college football officials - referee Daniel Capron, linesman Steve Beckman, back judge Scott Buchanan and side judge Don Swanson - after determining they did poor job during Sept. 21 game between Wake Forest and Purdue.

BOWIE STATE: F-C Tim Washington was named Street & Smith's NCAA Division II men's basketball preseason All-America honorable mention.

MARYLAND: Suspended LB Leroy Ambush for Saturday's game at West Virginia for violation of team policy.

PENN STATE: Big Ten determined that football coach Joe Paterno's grabbing an official after overtime loss to Iowa on Saturday did not violate league's rules against unsportsmanlike conduct.

WASHINGTON: Suspended men's basketball assistant coach Cameron Dollar without pay for one month for series of recruiting violations.
