Open house: H-Team 4-H Club is holding its annual open house at 7 p.m. at Community United Methodist Church, 8680 Fort Smallwood Road, Pasadena. The club is a program of the Maryland Cooperative Extension. It meets from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mondays and works on projects with a focus on crafts. 410-437-5618.

Dance classes: Dance instruction for children ages 8 to 16 will be taught through the Youth Dance Institute at Anne Arundel Community College. Irish dance will begin the Monday night series today with instructor Gretchen Bein. A Tuesday night tap class begins tomorrow and runs through Dec. 10. Tap will be taught by Caryn Rose, a graduate of AACC and the University of Maryland dance program. The cost is $55 per course. 410-777-2325.

Comedy show: Gerald Riley and Karen Lambert will present "An Evening of Comedy" at 10:30 a.m. at Annapolis Senior Center. The show is free (tickets and senior center membership are required). 410-222-1818.

Wildlife art: Wildlife art by Barbara L. Buck will be shown from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Hollingsworth Art Gallery at the Patuxent Research Refuge's National Wildlife Visitor Center. Today is the final day of the exhibition. 301-497-5760.


Candidates speak: David K. Kyle, a candidate for the 31st District seat in the state Senate, and John Moran, a candidate for sheriff, will speak at a meeting of the Senior Republican Club at 2 p.m. at the Harundale library. Light refreshments will be served. 410-647-5667.

Big band, jazz: The Artie Shaw Orchestra, directed by Dick Johnson, will perform big band and jazz music at 7 p.m. at the Chesapeake Center for the Creative Arts, 194 Hammonds Lane, Brooklyn Park. 410-636- 6597.

Family series: South County Senior Center starts another cycle of the 10-week "American Family" series from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The class will focus on the American frontier family. Registration is required, and a fee will be collected. 410-222- 1927.

Play group: The YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County is sponsoring a play group for 2-year-olds from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays through Dec. 10 at the office, 1517 Ritchie Highway in Arnold. The fee for the 13 sessions is $130. YWCA membership is required. 410-626-7800.

Bereavement support: Hospice of the Chesapeake's Spiritual Bereavement Care Center is offering a six-week support group. It will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Oct. 15 at the hospice office, 8424 Veterans Highway, Suite 8, Millersville. The registration fee is $25. 410-987-2129.

Women's networking: Ruth Muenze, who serves on the Maryland East Area Board as vice president of administration, will speak at this month's Glen Burnie Women's AGLOW meeting. Light refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will start at 7 p.m. at the Glen Burnie Improvement Association hall, Crain Highway and First Avenue. 410-255-1648.

Ballroom dancing: Davidsonville Dance Club, a nonprofit organization, will hold an eight-week ballroom dance class from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays beginning this week. Dances include the rumba, salsa and mambo. A basic class, including instruction in waltz and swing, will be offered Thursdays starting this week. Candidates forum: The Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Severna Park Council will sponsor "Meet the Candidates Night" from 7 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. at Severna Park Middle School. The forum will allow residents to become more familiar with candidates for county executive, for the 5th District seat on the County Council, and for District 33A seats in the state House and Senate. 410-647-3900.

Horticulture meeting: The Annapolis Horticulture Society will meet from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Eastport United Methodist Church, 926 Bay Ridge Ave., next to the Eastport Volunteer Fire Department. 410-263-2053.

Digital darkroom: Arundel Camera Club members Ted Golczewski and Mike Dulisse will discuss the digital darkroom at 7:30 p.m. in Room G144 of Severna Park High School, 60 Robinson Road. The meeting is open to the public. 410-544-1742.

Golf tournament: The 10th annual Sarah's House Golf Tournament will be held at the Queenstown Harbor-Lakes Course on the Queenstown Golf Course. There will be a 10 a.m. shotgun start. The registration fee is $125 and includes greens fees, 18 holes of golf, lunch and dinner, beer and beverages, door prizes and a golf towel. Conflict resolution: The Anne Arundel Conflict Resolution Center is presenting an eight-week training course, "No-Lose Conflict Resolution skills," from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday nights starting this week.
