ROCKVILLE - Sheila Dagucon of Montgomery Village celebrated her first year of eligibility for the Maryland State Women's Senior championship by taking the title in the 34th annual event at Norbeck Country Club yesterday. Dagucon finished with 79-77-156.

The winner started two shots off the pace, but took the lead with a 1-over-par 37, then came home one stroke ahead of defending champion Joan Winchester of Rolling Road Golf Club, 77-80-157.

Aside from Dagucon, the only other player in the 70s among the 72 starters on a miserable day for golf was Tinker Sanger of Green Spring, 89-79-168.

The leaders had to share the spotlight, however, with Marion Booth of Manor CC, Booth is 84, and her string of golf titles goes back some 65 years. Here, she added one, taking the 70-over division with 91-93-184.
