Annapolis police seek man in shooting Saturday night

Annapolis police are looking for a 23-year-old Hilltop Lane resident accused of attempted murder in connection with a shooting Saturday night.

A man was shot in the back in the 1100 block of Medgar Evers St., and police have charged Ronrico Marcello Coates with the crime.

Police consider Coates armed and dangerous and are asking the public to call 911 with any information about him.

County gets federal grant to preserve farmland

Anne Arundel County has received a $118,250 grant for land preservation from a division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Announced Tuesday, the Natural Resources Conservation Service grant will be used with money received from the Maryland Agricultural Land Preservation Fund to preserve land.

Maryland received about $2.5 million - the second-highest of any state - from the federal fund.
