Genevieve V. Mooney, 73, department store manager

Genevieve V. Mooney, a homemaker and retired sales manager, died Tuesday of complications from lung cancer at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium. She was 73 and lived in the Mays Chapel section of Baltimore County.

She was a sales associate and later a department manager at Harford Mall's E.J. Korvette's department store in Bel Air. She later worked at Finkelstein's Clothiers in Towson. She retired in 1984.

Born in New York City, Genevieve Lindlaw moved with her family to Baltimore's Pimlico neighborhood in 1932. She attended Catholic High School.

In 1948, she married William J. Mooney Sr., a Commercial Credit and Army accountant. He died in 1980.

She was a volunteer member of Bykota Senior Center in Towson. She was formerly active at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Govans.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 101 Church Lane, Cockeysville.

Mrs. Mooney is survived by four sons, William J. Mooney Jr. of Baltimore, Michael H. Mooney of Newark, Del., Mark H. Mooney of Timonium and Stephen R. Mooney of Bethesda.; a brother, Herbert Lindlaw Jr. of Pasadena; a sister, Helen Ayd of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and 13 grandchildren.
