Herbert H. Roberts Sr., 68, longtime JHU plumber

Herbert H. Roberts Sr., a retired plumber, died Monday of complications from cancer at St. Joseph Medical Center. He was 68 and lived in the Baltimore County community of White Hall.

Before his retirement in 1999, he was a plumber for the Johns Hopkins University on the Homewood campus for 29 years. He previously worked as a welder for Bethlehem Steel Corp. at Sparrows Point.

Born in Baltimore and raised in Middle River, he attended Baltimore County public schools.

During the Korean War, Mr. Roberts served in the Navy as an aircraft mechanic.

He was a member of the Towson Moose Club.

His wife of 25 years, V. Louise Dooms, died in 1982.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Lemmon Funeral Home, 10 Padonia Road, Timonium.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth C. Roberts of White Hall and Richard L. Roberts Sr. of Westminster; two daughters, Suzanne Marie Roberts of Essex and Virginia Reckord of Hampstead; and 10 grandchildren.
