Plenty of benefits slated to support community

FUND-RAISERS, flea-markets and benefits abound in the Pasadena area in the next few weeks, with proceeds going to support a variety of institutions and organizations.

Church yard sale

Chesapeake Christian Center Church of God, 7975 Tick Neck Road, is having its fall church yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow. Funnel cakes, chili, pit beef sandwiches and other food will be available. Proceeds will benefit church projects.

Breakfast at church

The United Methodist Men of Magothy United Methodist Church will be in the kitchen tomorrow morning getting ready for an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the church fellowship hall, 3703 Mountain Road.

The cost is $5 for adults and $2 for senior citizens and children younger than 10. Proceeds from the monthly breakfasts benefit church projects.

St. Andrew's benefit

Change your trash into treasure at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church's flea market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 28. Spaces are available for $10. Food and refreshments will be sold. Proceeds will benefit the Sunday school program.

Orchard Beach bingo

Orchard Beach Volunteer Fire Department is having a basket bingo this evening at the fire hall, 7549 Solley Road.

Admission is $15 at the door and includes 20 regular bingo games. Specials and raffle tickets to win a block-party basket or an extra large oval wastebasket are extra. Refreshments will also be sold.

The volunteers at Orchard Beach Fire Department have a second fund-raiser planned - a shrimp feast and bull roast from 7 p.m. to midnight Oct. 5.

Tickets are $32 in advance and include steamed or fried shrimp, shrimp Creole, pit beef, ham, turkey, a selection of vegetables, salads, desserts, coffee, tea, beer and sodas.

Food will be served until 11 p.m. A disc jockey will provide music.

Dinner, bingo at VFW

The Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2462 will have a dinner bingo party Sept. 29 at the post home, 1750 Bayside Beach Road. The door will open at 1 p.m.

Tickets are $20, and include dinner, dessert and a beverage, plus 20 regular games of bingo. Specials, raffles, door prizes, and a jackpot game are also planned.
