Cornerstone Homes named master builder

Cornerstone Homes of Howard County has earned the Certified Master Builder rating from the Home Builders Association of Maryland.

The Master Builder program requires builders to abide by the association's standards. Among the criteria are at least three years in the business; independent audit to determine financial stability; continuing education program; references from customers, suppliers, subcontractors and lenders; and disclosure of any legal proceedings involving the company.

Cornerstone has been in business since 1991 and is building Patuxent Ridge in Laurel and Rockburn View in Elkridge.

"Builders are compelled to distinguish themselves worthy of homebuyer confidence, and the way to do that in Maryland is through the Certified Master Builder and Remodeler program," said John Kortekamp, executive vice president of the association.
