Hampstead exhibits photos in Town Hall

The Hampstead Town Hall Art Gallery is displaying Sam Gunby's photography through Oct. 31.

Gunby owns and operates Scenic Views Photography. He has been taking photographs for 25 years.

He also owned and operated for six years a photography studio that specialized in weddings, portraits and commercial work.

His travels led him to expand into scenic photography. Now, his photos focus on lighthouses, old mills, waterfalls, landscapes, steam trains and local city scenes.

The Town Hall is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays at 1034 S. Carroll St.

Manchester concerts continue Sunday

The Town of Manchester continues its monthly concert series through next month at the Firemen's Carnival Grounds on York Street.

Concerts start at 6 p.m. Sundays at the bandstand. Visitors should take lawn chairs or blankets. Admission is free.

Sunday's concert will feature Free Wheeling.

North Carroll library to hold story times

North Carroll branch library, 2255 Hanover Pike, Greenmount, will offer:

Year-Round Family Story Time for all ages (3 and under must be with an adult) at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday and 10 a.m. every Thursday.

Introduction to the Internet for adults just starting to use the Internet at 10 a.m. Saturday.

American Girls Night for ages 7 to 10 at 6:45 p.m. Sept. 19. The North Carroll High School Honor Society will offer American Girls stories, theater presentations and crafts. Children may bring their dolls and dress up. Registration is required.

North Carroll Book Club for adults at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 23 to discuss The Painted House by John Grisham.

Hampstead Lions Club selling discount books

The Hampstead Lions Club is selling Entertainment 2003 books for $25 each.

The book has discounts and reduced prices on a variety of restaurants, travel, entertainment and more. The books can be used now through October 2003.

Books are available at Hampstead-area True Value hardware stores and banks, or by calling 410-239-3141.

Proceeds go to the Lions Club Community Park Fund.

Manchester planning: Manchester Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Town Hall, 3208 York St. 410-239-3200.

Church news

Lazarus United Church of Christ: A joint Rally Day service with the Lutheran congregation will be at 9 a.m. Sunday with the program "Puppets Raising God." The church is at 5101 S. Church St., Lineboro. 410- 374-1304.

Grace United Methodist: Rally Day for Sunday School will be held Sunday. Activities include a light breakfast in the gym at 8:45 a.m., Bible "Chalk Talk" by Linda Heavel at 9:30 a.m., the annual balloon descension (where the children stomp on the balloons) at 10:10 a.m., and a motivating skit and special music.
