BWI parking lots feature broadcasts of travel tips

Travel tips and information about airport services are being broadcast at all bus shelters at Baltimore-Washington International Airport's long-term parking lots.

The 15-second messages are played every few minutes.

B/C Media LLC installed the broadcasting system and will cover operation and maintenance costs. The company, which includes ads on the broadcast messages, will share advertising revenue with the Maryland Aviation Administration.

Company offers pick-up, delivery of excess baggage

Mail Boxes Etc. in Pasadena will provide pick-up service at BWI for passengers who have items that may not be carried through security or items that exceed size restrictions.

The minimum charge for the service is $50, and the company can pick up packages from the airport within a half-hour. Packages may be sent within the United States or internationally.

Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Information: 410-437-9286.

Internal renovations under way at BWI

The Maryland Aviation Administration is testing tile samples between Piers B and C at Baltimore-Washington International Airport as part of a $1.8 billion terminal improvement project.

The administration plans to replace carpet with tile in high-traffic areas.

Interior renovations are intended to give the area a more open feeling. As part of the project, a front terminal wall is being moved to provide a larger walkway for travelers.
