Mother remains in hospital after crash that killed girl

September 05, 2002|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

A Parkville woman accused of killing her 9-year-old daughter by deliberately crashing her car into a tree on Labor Day remained hospitalized yesterday.

Lisa A. Dieter, 35, survived the crash at Double Rock Park, but her daughter, Alana Anne Dieter, died Tuesday. Baltimore County police say Lisa Dieter was trying to kill herself and her only child.

Police, who are guarding Dieter, had expected that she would be released from John Hopkins Hospital yesterday and that they would serve an arrest warrant for first-degree murder. But Cpl. Ron Brooks, a Police Department spokesman, said: "There are some remaining health concerns." Dieter was listed in fair condition.
