September 03, 2002

Emily Berman

Towson, hitter

The 6-foot-1 senior averaged 2.2 kills a game for last year's Class 2A state champion. She is expected to dominate in the middle.

Kate Feldmann

Centennial, hitter/DS

A fierce competitor who will rarely come off the court, the 5-9 senior is a strong hitter and superb defensive player.

Hallie Fuller

Broadneck, setter

The All-Metro player returns for her fourth varsity season as the catalyst of the defending 4A state champion.

Amanda Hernandez

Arundel, setter

Hernandez set a school record for assists (507) as an All-County junior last season. She makes the Wildcats a 4A contender.

Stephanie Kines

Towson, hitter

Baltimore County's premier hitter, she led Towson to its first state title in her third varsity season.

Ali Kupec

River Hill, hitter

This 6-foot senior can take over a match with her strength in hitting and serving and precision passing.

Laura Shand

Liberty, setter

The senior, who paced the Lions to the 3A state semifinals a year ago, is Carroll County's top setter.

Tara Stradling

Glenelg, setter

The only junior in this group, Stradling led the 2A state finalists last season in assists (6.6). She also had 155 digs and hit 91 percent of her serves.

Sarah Tursell

Glenelg, hitter

Strong, athletic and versatile, the senior was a second-team All-Metro choice last fall after leading Howard County in blocks.

Jennifer Wylie

Dulaney, hitter/DS

The middle hitter looks to rebound from an injury-filled junior season to lead the Lions to their fifth straight state final four.
