E. Grace Passano, 75, nurse at area hospitals

E. Grace Passano, a nurse at Baltimore area hospitals for 35 years, died Tuesday at her home in York, Pa., after a long illness. She was 75.

From the mid-1960s until 1990, Mrs. Passano was a nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital, the former Church Home and Hospital and former City Hospitals, now Bayview Medical Center.

During that time, she resided in Towson, Monkton and Roland Park with her family. When she retired, she moved to Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

E. Grace Lipham was born in Creamery, Pa. During her time in the Baltimore area, she earned a bachelor's degree at the Johns Hopkins University.

A memorial service was held Friday in York.

Survivors include four sons, Louis Passano of Baltimore, Clifton J. Santiago of Seven Valleys, Pa., Philip R. Santiago of Parkton and S. Scott Santiago of Charlottesville, Va; three daughters, Mary Jo Bertolino of Columbus, Ohio, Kathleen S. Kadel of Camp Hill, Pa., and Paige Santiago-Passano of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; a brother, Harvey J. Lipham of Maine; two sisters, Berta Norman and Emily "Dolly" Hallman, both of Florida; 18 grandchildren and a great-grandson.
