Grauling Jr., William G. On August 29, 2002 WILLIAM G. GRAULING JR., beloved son of Elizabeth, and the late William Grauling Sr., loving grandson of Clara Barrett, cherished brother of David Grauling, Joyce Carnes, Theresa Wood and Carolyn Gibbons, dear uncle of Nicolas Grauling, Michael Carnes, Matthew Wood, Forrest Grauling, Gavin Grauling, Brenden Grauling and Megan Carnes. Also survived by his girlfriend, Janet Yetter. Relatives and friends may call at the family owned Ambrose Funeral Home of Lansdowne, 2719 Hammonds Ferry Rd, on Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. where a Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 10 A.M. Havenstein, Paul L. PAUL L. HAVENSTEIN, a World War II Fighter Pilot died July 16, 2002 of cancer at his Bethesda, MD home. He was 82. A native of Flushing, NY, Long Island grew up in Wellesley, Mass., attended Severn Preparatory & graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy 1944, where he was an America LaCrosse player. He Commander Havensteins naval assignments included: Service with the Space Task Force, Project Mercury, NASA & serving as Special Asst. to the Secretary of the Navy. He earned advanced degrees from the Naval Post Graduate School in 1950 & the Massachuset Institute of Technology in 1951. He received a specialized degree from the Oakridge School of Nuclear Reactor Technology in 1954. During World War II, he was an aircraft carrier fighter pilot in the Pacific where he flew the F4U Corsair. He moved to Bethesda, MD with his first marriage to Kathryn Creech. He is survived by their seven children including four sons Paul L. Havenstein, Jr. of Linden, VA; Peter F. Havenstein, Sr. of Bethesda, MD; Col. Walter P. Havenstein, Sr. of Bedford, N.H. & Preston M. Havenstein of N. Potomac, MD & three daughters Polly B. Cameron of Balt. MD, Patricia H. Elliott of Gaithersburg, MD & Phyllis C. Koch of Bethesda, MD. He is also survived by a second wife Mary Frances Shea Havenstein, as well as nine grandchildren including Kathryn McKay, Cameron of Balt. He was buried August 22, at the Arlington National Cemetery.
