Full Gospel Baptist to dedicate its building addition

Full Gospel Baptist Church, 14350 Frederick Road, Cooksville, will conduct praise and dedication services, led by Rev. James H. Stovall, for its building addition.

Pre-dedication services will be held at 7 a.m. Sept. 9 to 13.

The Rev. Douglas Sands and his congregation, Simpson Hanline United Methodist Church of Washington, will be at the Sept. 9 service. The Rev. Julia Hickman and her congregation, First Macedonia Baptist Church in Ellicott City, will be at the Sept. 13 service.

FOR THE RECORD - Information on services marking completion of an addition at Full Gospel Baptist Church in Cooksville that appeared in the Aug. 30 Howard County edition of The Sun contained an error. Prededication services are being held at 7 p.m. today, tomorrow, Thursday and Friday.

Three "Evenings of Praise and Worship" will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 10, 11 and 12. The services will feature praise teams, musicians, dance ministries and choirs.

The dedication service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 15. Dinner will be served after the 11 a.m. worship service. Guests will include the Rev. Leroy Fitts and his congregation, First Baptist Church of Baltimore.

Choir of deaf to perform, using sign language

The Ellicott City Cluster of United Methodist Churches will present the Choir of Christ United Methodist Church of the Deaf at 4 p.m. Sept. 8 at Emory United Methodist Church, 3810 Church Road, Ellicott City.

The choir will perform in sign language to music.

Audience members are asked to bring one item, such as paper goods and toiletries for the Deaf Church Pantry, which assists those in the deaf community who have limited financial resources.

Craft festival Sept. 7 at church in Ellicott City

St. Peter's Church, 3695 Rogers Ave., Ellicott City, will sponsor a craft festival from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 7 on the parking lot.

Abiding Savior Lutheran's Sunday school schedule set

Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 10689 Owen Brown Road, Columbia, is implementing new programs.

Its new Sunday school schedule will begin Sept. 8. The program will begin with a breakfast buffet at 9:15 a.m., followed by a half-hour Bible lesson. The children will proceed into the sanctuary with singing and rhythm instruments for a children's chat with the pastor before recessing at 10:20 a.m.

A new contemporary worship service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 22, Oct. 20, Nov. 17 and Dec. 22.

Children in grades three to eight may join the church choir. Rehearsals for the Youth Music Program are held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Mondays.

Harvest Baptist services to commemorate 9/11

Harvest Baptist Church, Old Annapolis and Columbia roads, Columbia, will sponsor two services to commemorate Sept. 11.

"Hope for the Future" will be offered at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sept. 8. "The 9/11 Remembrance Service" will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11. Both services will feature music, a video and opportunity to share how Sept. 11 has touched lives over the past year.

Emory United planning service for 9/11 on Sept. 8

Emory United Methodist Church, 3810 Church Road, Ellicott City, will commemorate the first Sept. 11 anniversary at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 8.

Howard County Executive James N. Robey will assist in recognizing the work of local police, fire and rescue personnel and the sheriff's office.

New Hope Lutheran's 9/11 rite will start at 8 a.m.

New Hope Lutheran Church, 8575 Guilford Road, Columbia, will conduct a Sept. 11 anniversary memorial service from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The event will feature continuous readings of the victims' biographies published in newspapers. A memorial service will follow at 7:30 p.m.
