Randallstown man charged in 3 robberies

Bank holdups occurred in past month, police say

Howard County police arrested a Randallstown man yesterday on charges that he robbed three Howard banks during the past month.

Police have accused Billy Ray Smith, 37, of the 3700 block of Offutt Road of robbing Westminster Union Bank in the 15900 block of Old Frederick Road in Woodbine on July 22, the Farmers & Mechanics Bank in the 6200 block of Washington Blvd. in Elkridge on Aug. 16, and the Farmers & Mechanic Bank in the 9500 block of Old Annapolis Road in Dorsey's Search on Wednesday.

A weapon was not displayed in the robberies, police said.

Smith was charged with three counts of robbery and was being held at Southern District lockup last night awaiting a bail hearing.
