Ravens Profile: Bart Scott

August 21, 2002|By Mary Beth Kozak

Position: Linebacker

College: Southern Illinois

Who he is: The three-year starter was first-team All-Gateway Conference as a senior (team-leading 127 tackles, 18 tackles for losses and 5.5 sacks).

Favorite football moment: "We got my [high school] head coach his first playoff victory. I came from a school where we had to rebuild the program and nobody said we could win, and it's really gratifying to come up and change the program around and start something for the future."

What he misses from home: "Family is really important to me, and the only thing that could make this dream better is if they were here to share every minute with me."

Ravens mentor: "Before Ray [Lewis] reported to camp, it was Eddie Hartwell because we played against each other in college. ... we had like a Gateway love for each other because we came from the same conference. When Ray came, he took me under his wing and tried to help me."
