August 19, 2002|By Mary Beth Kozak

Ron Johnson

Position: Wide receiver

College: Minnesota

Who he is: The fourth-round selection (123rd overall) in April's NFL draft, he holds the Gophers' record with at least one catch in every game (46) played. He is also the school's all-time record-holder with 198 receptions for 3,039 yards and 31 touchdowns.

Favorite football moment: "That would be my first big catch when I jumped up for the fade when Chris Redman threw it [in the preseason game against Detroit]."

Rookie pranks: "The DBs and some of the other guys, they chased me down and taped me up and put me in the ice tub. It wasn't that bad though."

What he has learned in camp: "Always know the situation, always know what's going on in practice, always know what you have to do with your plays."

What he does before a game: "I listen to slow music maybe before a game. When the game gets close, close to the kickoff, I try to speed the music up a bit more, more rap just to get me a little more hyper."
