Authorities seeking child with homeless father

Baltimore County police asked yesterday for the public's help in finding a homeless man who has his 7-year-old daughter with him, even though she is supposed to be in the care of the county's Department of Social Services.

The girl, Reyhaane Maryam Fakhori, was placed in the care of social services last year, police said.

Her father, Hamid Reza Fakhori, 42, often does home improvements for families who offer him a place to stay because he has his daughter with him, according to police. His last known address was in Owings Mills.

Fakhori is not charged with a crime, nor is he considered dangerous, police said. But, said Bill Toohey, a county police spokesman, "We do believe it's in the best interest of the child not to be traveling around with a homeless man."

A court order, which would outline the social services agency's reason for petitioning for custody of the child, is sealed, police said. Anyone with information about the father or daughter is asked to call police at 410-307-2020.
