Camp update

August 13, 2002|By Brent Jones

Thumbs up: Safety Anthony Mitchell and cornerback Chris McAlister each had interceptions. McAlister was extremely physical at the line of scrimmage, and receivers had a tough time getting into their routes. ... Quarterback Chris Redman threw a perfect 35-yard corner route to former Morgan State standout Marc Lester ... Cornerback Reggie Waddell batted away two passes.

Thumbs down: The offense had to re-huddle two out of three plays during the 11-on-11 drill because of confusion at the line of scrimmage. ... Running back Tellis Redmon went the wrong way on a motion play.

Quotable: "I put my 65 together [yesterday], prematurely obviously, and it was hard to do." - Ravens coach Brian Billick, on trying to pare down his roster.

Injuries: Linebacker Peter Boulware (ankle), end Michael McCrary (knee), cornerback Gary Baxter (hamstring), end Tony Weaver (ankle), linebacker Andre Arnold (knee), receiver Lonny Mitchell (strained neck), defensive tackle Josh McKibben (stress fracture) and offensive lineman Ken Farrar (knee) did not practice. Farrar and Mitchell might return to practice today.

Countdown to season opener: 26 days.
