A recap of the Ravens' 12-6 victory over the Detroit Lions on Friday:

Thumbs up:The Ravens' defense registered eight sacks on 50 dropbacks by Lions quarterbacks, an average of one sack every six pass plays. ... Rookie receiver Ron Johnson had a team-best four catches for 50 yards, including a 21-yard reception. ... The Ravens' defense gave up just one run over 5 yards and none over 9 yards. ... In place of Ed Reed at safety, Chad Williams had three tackles and a pass deflection, and Will Demps scored the game's only touchdown with an 18-yard interception return. ... The Ravens controlled the clock for 33 minutes, 27 seconds.

Thumbs down:Detroit's six points were converted off a Chris Redman interception and fumble. ... Without Jamal Lewis and Chester Taylor, the Ravens' running backs totaled 45 yards on 18 carries (an average of 2.5 yards). ... Redman had only one completion over 13 yards. ... The Ravens committed 11 penalties for 77 yards. ... In the fourth quarter, backup quarterback Jeff Blake misfired on three deep throws and was flagged for delay of game. ... Edwin Mulitalo had a rough start at right tackle, getting beat three times by Pro Bowl defensive end Robert Porcher.

Quote to note: "Chris did some very good things. He was fairly efficient, but made some real bonehead errors." Ravens coach Brian Billick on summing up Redman's performance.

Stat to watch: 18.3. Lamont Brightful's average yards per return on three attempts.

Training camp schedule:The players were off yesterday but have two full-squad practices today at 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. and 4 to 5:30 p.m.
