Yard sale: Christ the Servant Lutheran Church will hold a yard sale at 8 a.m. tomorrow in front of the church, 26221 Annapolis Road, Severn. The church will offer free popcorn and face-painting, and magic acts at 10:30 a.m. and noon by Joe Farina. Proceeds will benefit the church and the Christian Assistance Program. 410-551- 2316.

Feel the spirit: The Light Center Spiritualist Church in Glen Burnie will hold a three-evening course on spirituality and the development of mediumship at 7:30 p.m. Monday and Aug. 19 and 26. The course includes discussion, practice and exercises to develop an awareness of the world of spirit. Courses are held at the Hampton Inn in Glen Burnie. www. LightCenter.org or 410-590-9167.

Breast cancer seminars: North Arundel Hospital has received a grant from the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to offer seminars on breast cancer to underserved African-American and Korean women older than age 40 in Anne Arundel County. The seminars will be held at New Life Fellowship Baptist Church in Hanover, St. James Church of the Apostolic Faith in Glen Burnie, Asbury Town Neck United Methodist Church in Severna Park and Korean Methodist Church of Love in Severn. Each seminar will be held on a Sunday after church service and will include lunch. The hospital also will offer free health lectures and will participate in local health fairs. Bible school: Vacation Bible School at the Pasadena United Methodist Church will feature "God's Great Gallery" from 9 a.m. to noon for ages 4 to 11 through today. The cost is $3 per child or $5 per family. 410-647-3090.

Peachy time: The second annual peach jam and peach pie contest will highlight Galilee Lutheran Church's Peach Festival Aug. 17 at the church, 4652 Mountain Road, Pasadena. The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pit beef platters, sandwiches, crab cake platters, sandwiches and hot dogs will be sold. The country store will sell crafts, fresh vegetables, peaches and jam. Baked goods made from fresh peaches will be sold. Platters cost $6.50 and include two sides and a beverage; sandwiches are $5, and hot dogs $2.50 each. Those entering the pie and jam contest should have items there by 11 a.m. 410-255- 8236.

Neil Simon play: The Sisterhood of Congregation Kneseth Israel is sponsoring a trip to see Promises, Promises, a play by Neil Simon, at 8 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre. Dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. Prices are $10 for the show and $16 for dinner and show. Transportation from Kneseth Israel is $5. Children's choir: The African Children's Choir will perform at a free concert at Woods Memorial Church, 611 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd., Severna Park at 7 p.m. Sept. 13. The internationally acclaimed and Grammy-nominated African Children's Choir has been invited to the United States to sing at the Sept. 11 memorial ceremony at the Pentagon. The choir is made up of children ages 5 to 12, many of whom have lost one or both parents. The choir is an interdenominational, registered nonprofit charity.
