Union Bridge to hold auditions for fall play

The Little Community Theatre of Union Bridge will hold auditions for its fall production of See How They Run from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 21 and 22 at Union Bridge Church of the Brethren.

Roles for six men and three women are open. Auditions will consist of a cold reading from the script.

September Song rehearses for `Once Upon a Mattress'

The September Song Community Theatre group has begun rehearsals for its fall play, Once Upon a Mattress.

The play will be presented at 8 p.m. Sept. 20, 21, 27 and 28 and 2:30 p.m. Sept. 22 and 28 at Westminster High School.

Cast members include Andrew Gaver as Prince Dauntless, Ann Barcroft as Queen Aggravain, Andrew Haff as Sir Harry, Jennifer Andersen as Lady Larken, Rich Harrison as the minstrel and Rich Nestor as the wizard.

Music group to perform concert in Westminster

Encore Community Music Association will present a concert of chamber music at 4 p.m. Aug. 25 at the home of Margaret Motter Ward in Westminster.

The program will feature Encore Symphony Orchestra string players Frank Hardy, Susan Ruppert, Margaret Motter Ward and Robert Shindle.

The program is free, but reservations to confirm seating are required.

Masterworks begins season under new leader

The Masterworks Chorale of Carroll County, formerly the Westminster Choral Arts Society, will begin its 2002-2003 season this fall under the direction of Margaret Boudreaux.

Singers are being recruited for all voice parts. Rehearsals will be held Tuesday evenings beginning Sept. 10.

The group will hold a musical workshop at 7 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Johahn Drive for anyone interested in joining the group.

Boudreaux is music department chairwoman and director of choral activities at McDaniel College.

As the Westminster Choral Arts Society, the group performed for 25 years, offering spring, fall and recently, Christmas holiday, concerts each year. Classical favorites by composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Verdi, Handel, Bach, Faure, Rutter and Britten were performed.

Eichelberger to present `The Little Mermaid'

Eichelberger Performing Arts Center in Hanover, Pa., will present The Little Mermaid from Aug. 23 to 25.

Hanover Lantern is sponsoring the family play at 8 p.m. Aug. 23, 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Aug. 24 and 3 p.m. Aug. 25 at the center, 195 Stock St.

Tickets are $10 and $15 for reserved seating.
