Elizabeth L. Godbold, 81, sales clerk, homemaker

Elizabeth L. Godbold, a homemaker and department store sales associate, died Monday of complications from dementia at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium. She was 81.

Elizabeth Opper, a Baltimore native, was raised in the Hunting Ridge neighborhood. She was a 1939 graduate of Friends School.

She worked as a sales associate in ladies' apparel at the Hochschild Kohn store at Belvedere Avenue and York Road from 1950 to 1960.

Mrs. Godbold, who had lived in Hunting Ridge since 1977, enjoyed reading and playing canasta.

Marriages to James F.J. Ahern Jr. and Preston Godbold ended in divorce.

Services are private.

Survivors include a daughter, Diane Ahern Stallard of York, Pa.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
