Performance of south Indian music set

Howard County Central Library will present the south Indian music of Vaidehi Kannan at 7 p.m. Aug. 15 for its free "Third Thursdays in the Cafe" series in the Meeting Room at 10375 Little Patuxent Parkway.

Kannan presents an interactive performance, explaining the background and traditions of a southern Indian musical concert. She will be accompanied by a violin and tabla (drums) during an improvisational recital. An element of dance and devotional music will be incorporated.

Coffee and dessert will be provided.

John and Abigail Adams to be portrayed in show

Florence Bain Senior Center, 5470 Ruth Keeton Way, will sponsor a presentation of "John and Abigail Adams" at 11 a.m. Aug. 20.

The program focuses on the personal sacrifices of the second president of the United States and his wife in establishing the nation. It will be performed by John and Sue Wills, who present Presidents and Their First Ladies, Dramatically Speaking. The cost is $2. Reservations are required.

Line dancing: Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks is offering a 14-week line dancing class for senior citizens from 1:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Oct. 28 at Florence Bain Senior Center, 5470 Ruth Keeton Way. Crab feast: River Hill Community Association will sponsor its sixth crab feast, an adults-only, all-you-can-eat event, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Aug. 17 at the River Hill pool, 6330 Trotter Road.
